“SSL Error happened, your OS may not support connection to the server” using NetExtender

Description: This article will show you how to resolve error “SSL Error happened, your OS may not support connection to the server” when trying to establish the connection using NetExtender. This is common with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 machines.

Resolution: 

  1. Log into your SonicWall
  2. Expand SSL VPN
    ssl_error1
  3. Select “Server Settings”
    ssl_error2
  4. Enable “Enable Server Cipher Preference” and select “3DES_SHA1”

Note
There is a simple difference between NSA and TZ devices. On the TZ we can use the option “Only Use High Security Ciphers”.
There is no such option on NSA devices.
